The University of Chicago Center for Elementary Mathematics and Science Education (CEMSE), the institutional home of the authors of Everyday Mathematics, will be offering Everyday Mathematics workshops for new users.

 

Everyday Mathematics New-User Workshops - Grades K-5 and Special Education

These sessions are intended for teachers who are either:

 --new to Everyday Mathematics or

 --teaching a new grade level of the curriculum.


Day 3 New User Sessions - Saturday, February 2, 2013

CHOOSE ONE OF THESE SEVEN SESSIONS:

1. Everyday Mathematics Kindergarten

2. Everyday Mathematics Grade 1

3. Everyday Mathematics Grade 2

4. Everyday Mathematics Grade 3

5. Everyday Mathematics Grade 4

6. Everyday Mathematics Grade 5

This is the third day in a series of four, 1-day sessions for New Users K-5 of Everyday Mathematics, with an emphasis on components, routines, management tips, manipulative use, classroom organization, games, assessment, differentiation, pedagogy, and math content, within the context of upcoming units. We will also be discussing preparing students for Common Core State Standards and ISATs, as well as Everyday Mathematics technology resources.

7. Everyday Mathematics Special Education Grades K–5

This is the third day in a series of four, 1-day sessions focused on providing Special Education K-5 teachers with strategies to differentiate instruction, management tips, classroom organization, games, and assessment.

The main school parking lot is adjacent to the building on West Wabansia Avenue, between North St. Louis Ave. and Kimball Ave. There is also a secondary school parking lot located on the corner of North St. Louis Ave. and W. Bloomingdale Ave., along with additional street parking nearby.

The lot on the corner of North St. Louis Ave. and W. Bloomingdale Ave. is closest to the main entrance door to Stowe Elementary. This is the last door for the school when turning off of W. Wabansia onto North St. Louis and is located on North St. Louis (going towards W. Bloomingdale) and is clearly marked as the main entrance.

 
TIME:
Breakfast -
8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. 
Workshop - 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

COST:

The cost of each one-day session is $100.00 per participant. The price includes a light breakfast and lunch.  

All grade level sessions are limited to 35 participants. A minimum of 15 participants is needed for each grade level session or the session will be cancelled.  If a session is cancelled you will receive a full refund. CPDUs will be awarded upon completion. Credit Card payment is the only payment option. We are unable to accept POs or checks.

MATERIALS:
Participants teaching Kindergarten should bring the Kindergarten Teacher's Lesson Guide, the Assessment Handbook, and one copy of My First Math book.

Participants teaching Grades 1-5 (both General and Special Education) should bring the Teacher's Lesson Guide Vol. 2 and the Assessment Handbook.
